Should we update PostgreSQL to the latest version?

I have PostgreSQL 8.4 installed from 2010/11, any reason to update to the latest version of PostgreSQL 9.3.2?

Which version of PostgreSQL is the preferred version for us Mac users?

Cheers.

Mavericks 10.9.1

9.1 and up are not yet supported in PT4. The latest 9.0 is the most recent supported version. To upgrade you would need to backup your databases, uninstall 8.4, install 9.0 and then restore your databases.

Is there anything to be gained for my upgrading at this point, or just leave well enough alone?

You're unlikely to get a big enough benefit to justify the work of the upgrade if everything is working OK, but if you're noticing performance problems then it may be worth upgrading.

I'm told that there are performance improvements in moving to PostgreSQL 9.3, although we don't yet officially support that. We do hope to be able to confirm 9.3 support in the next PT4 release, so it may be worth waiting until that time to upgrade and then go straight to 9.3.
