Import error and the time it takes

Hi!

Firstly, thanks for letting me try to contribute to the development.

Getting into business, I had this "warning" during my PT3 to PT4 import (which is still running) and don't know what does it mean:

Unrecognized file format: ExtractPT3CashHoldem_1000_00000009.txt

One thing: I think it would be very neat if you could give an estimate on how long the import will take before we click to start it. Can you do it, based on computer specs+# of hands or something like that? I mean... anything like "This process is expected to take 3 to 7 hours" is better than "this process might take long". By long one could understand maybe 1 hour or 2. But I've been running it for more than 5 and it's still on 3/4; I was def. ok for a couple of hours but not ready to have my laptop slowed down for such a long period as ~8h or more.

That warning implies that one of the exported groups of hands from PT3 was not exporting properly and wasn't being imported into PT4. When the import finishes, could you take a look and see if there's any obvious segment of hands that are missing?

Trying to figure out how long the import would take - even at a very wide range - would be a very hard thing to do accurately. It also could vary based on lots of minor things - from various intricacies of hardware and setup up to and including what you're doing while PT4 is importing. We would not want to give you a time frame and have it off considerably, and without the ability to test a very wide range of setups, this kind of thing is really not practical at this point.

Ahn... as for checking if any hands are missing... well, it might be a bit impractical to check acurately but as you said I'll take a look to see if I can find any obvious one segment. How big a "segment" could that be? A whole stake, platform, or just a session etc.?

I actually got one more of them:

It could be fairly large. Each one of those files can hold up to 10,000 hands I believe. I think we break them down by game and by site. If you compare your results side by side in PT3 and PT4 it shouldn't be too tough to spot.

We tested the conversion tool and none of us on our end had errors like you are describing so it would help a lot to try and figure out what is special about those hands.

It could be for a site which PT4 doesn't yet support - what site are the hands in that file from?
Other sites supported by PT3 will be added soon but we're not quite there yet.

hmm, could be the case. I just opened one of the files and it has tons of hands from Entraction network.

The other file is a bit confusing/messy, also with a ton of hands. By my screen name, it could as well be Entraction, as well as Everleaf or maybe even Cake network (but skins in all cases).

Does any of those ring a bell?

Once PT4 is updated I assume I could just manually import them from these files, right? Should I then copy them and paste somewhere to do so later on?

Entraction support hasn't yet been brought over so that could definitely do it.

If you copy those files elsewhere once support is added we'll be able to import them at that time.

By that I'm assuming there are 20k hands "missing" or "not imported". I've put the files aside, thank you!

Entraction has been added to version 4.01.1, so once you get that version, you can rerun the Setup Assistant (through the Tools menu) and re-convert the database. It will run quicker, since most hands will be duplicates, and your notes will then be carried over.
