How long does it =normally take to import hands to PT3

Postby Delia » Fri Dec 16, 2011 11:56 am

Downloaded the PT4 beta last night, and 12 hours later I'm still importing hands from PT3 to PT4. Only 835,000 of 1,400,000 hands imported. Is this normal?

And if it is, you guys should include a feature that lets you pause importing and restart it again at a later date. My computer has been on all night (and most of the day yesterday), and is starting to slow down. If I close the Setup Assistant to restart my computer, will I have to start importing hands all over again?

It will be best if you can let it complete. One thing that we changed for PT4 is that the cache is updated as you import. So unlike PT3, once this import is complete, no housekeeping of any kind is required and everything is all set and ready to go.

I left my laptop running importing hands from pmy PT3 database last night. When I checked this morning, the laptop had powered down into a sleep mode(?). When I brought it backup I found that the setup assistant had completed all the cash hand and had done about 1/4 of the tournament hands. I watched for a while and realized that it was not importing anymore. It appeared to be locked up. I waited about an hour to make sure but it wasn't importing anymore. I decided to try to cancel the import and exit but it wouldn't let me. I finally went to task manager and shut the program down.

I opened up PT4 and went back to setup manager and restarted the PT3 import. It is importing hands again and is close to finishing. I assume my laptop powering down screwed up the initial import.

Yes, as long as you understand the performance implications. :D (In the early days I actually ran with both imports and both huds!)

I guess I don't want to try 15-table while these processes run with my old 3500+ Athlon system :-)
