Error Message: Unable to update cache.

Postby alaplancha » Tue May 27, 2008 9:14 pm

Hi,

Ok firstly I read through all the documentation etc. I read the wizard and I read the stickies. I did all those things and I have had no joy. Basically, PAHUD detects the table Im playing on, but the stats dont appear, then I fiddle with the 'Use database catche' option and I get the stats but then they never update... I uncheck that option and the program closes. When PAHUD starts up or I check the 'use database catche' (I did this when everything was closed - i read the note under this option) I get an error message 'Unable to update cache. An exception has occurred' and then PAHUD crashes. I have it running as administrator and i then did the Vista thingy (user control thing) restarted my computer. I tried closing the poker client and PT and then restarting all the programs but I still have the same problem. I have no stats and then I randomly get them, and then gone again and the cache thing then crashes.

Please Help,
Regards,
Adam

I think your cache file may be corrupt, have a look at this post where it explains how to reset the cache file:

Same as above except, when i follow through with the tutorial and try to save it, it says
"cannot create the c:\programfiles\PokerAceHud\data config\ pahud.cfg file"
"Make sure the path and file name are correct"

when i browse folders to find the file "Pahud.cfg" it wont save it.

Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks for your time

Are you an administrator on your computer?
Sounds like you don't have permission to change that file.

yes, im the administrator and the box is checked for both PT2 and PAHud.
I am not the most computer savvy person there is, but i'm assuming that i need to save the file to the above mentioned cfg. file. Is this correct? And if it is, then the error messages just keeps me going in circles with this.

Also, I do not run any PostgresSQL and probably wont until I purchase PT3 in a few months when all the glitches have been ironed out. Not sure if that makes any difference?

Thanks

I've just re-read the post I linked to, and you don't need to do the 'enable logging' bit. Just remove the cache DBs and PAH will recreate them.

ok, still not working... still getting the "exception" error.

However, I did notice that when I goto the "properties" by right clicking on the 'DBCashe1122.tmp' file in PokerAce > Data > Temp folders, that under the security tab and in the first box where it says "Group or user names" there is three options.

1. System - this one is currently highlighted
2. Administrators
3. Users

Now, PA is set to 'admin.' but this file is not. Could this be the problem? I am weary to try this as there have been many errors lately that are saying "fatal" in the pop- up box, and my new computer is starting to geek out already. Let me know what you think and if this has been common thing in the past. Thank you very much for continuing to work with me!

Did you try moving/renaming the cache files and seeing if the cache will be recreated?

Failing that, you could try setting the security to "Administrators", though I'm not familiar with this. What O/S are you running, Vista / XP, etc?

I run vista.

I originally deleted the cashe file and the new cashe file was recreated in the same spot. What do you mean by renaming/moving the file? I have not done that. thanks.
