post flop aggression factor statistic

Postby ptlover7 » Wed Feb 18, 2009 12:45 am

My HUD came with the post flop aggression factor stat as one of the defaults. How is this stat calculated? Is it just times a player bets post flop or are there other numbers that go into it.

Aggression factor is calculated as (# of bets + # of raises ) / # of calls for all postflop actions.

Thanks. I've been playing over 140 hands in a tourny and have made at least 15 post flop bets but my post flop agg factor reads 0. Can I assume that there is something wrong with that particular stat on my HUD? The other players agg factor seems to correspond to their play so at least it's right on that front which is most important.

Have you ever made a call postflop? If you haven't ever called then you're going to get N/A or infinity. If you have made calls too and the stat is coming up as 0, then something is indeed wrong, and if you could attach the hand histories for the tournament in question to a support ticket we'll look into what could be the culprit.

Thanks kraada. Yes, I had bet and raised post flop/ About 30 hands after I wrote you, the stat suddenly came up and stayed up. PayHUD still has some mysteries to it doesn't it? It's a great program but I find it a bit quirky---more than worth the price of admission but a bit quirky in the beginning.

Yeah, it takes a little getting used to. I like the PT3 HUD better, though, personally.

Could you tell me what it is about Hud3 that you like better? Will it work with PTV2

No, the PT3 HUD only works with PT3.

The thing about the PT3 HUD is that it's much more flexible and can allow you to display a much wider array of stats easily and color code based on other stats instead of the one you're looking at. (So, for example, I have Attempt to Steal colored by someone's Fold to Steal percentage, if the blinds are both in magenta I know I can steal profitably with any two cards.) You can build stats to display things in words . . . really, the sky is the limit.

See the How To: Advanced HUD Configuration for my full HUD details (and a walkthrough on how to build it in PT3).

I just re-read you response to my question regarding how total aggression factor is calculated. Is the number shown on HUD a percentage or total agg as compared to opportunities you had to bet or raise post flop?

There are no opportunities in AF. It's just the straight up ratio: (# of bets + # of raises ) / # of calls.

If you've bet 5 times, raised 3 times and called 4 times it's 8 / 4 or 2.
