Call Flop Bet / Raise Flop Bet

Postby scott1326 » Sun Sep 06, 2009 8:36 pm

Is there a way to differentiate between calling a flop bet and raising a flop bet with just the basic filters? If not, would it be possible to write a report to do this so that I could review the hands that just called a flop bet and those that raised a flop bet? (cnt_f_raise v cnt_f_call I guess?)

There isn't a way to check for facing a "bet" (as opposed to a raise) in the standard filters box, but you could check for:
Raise AND NOT 3-bet AND NOT 4-bet
You could also do:
Call AND NOT Any Raise
..although that would miss hands where you call then raise later on the flop.

You could do it accurately in a custom report, but would you want to see individual hands (i.e. the report in Holdem Cash Hands) or your stats from the hands that match those filters (Holdem Cash Player Statistics)?

Hi WRider,
Actually, I'm trying to find particular hands that meet a criteria given on a 2+2 hand-reading thread so that I can review them. I want hands where I raised pre-flop, was called, am oop and HU, and cbet the flop (and eventually saw showdown). Then I want to see if there is a correlation between the types of players who called the cbet and who raised the cbet, and what hands they had. The thread also specifies a particular potsize to which I will probably filter on. So, yes, reviewing hands would be something I'd want to do, which would not be possible in a report, right?

Then you want to create your custom report in the Holdem Cash Hand section. Make sure to include the Hand Number statistic in order to be able to double click the hand and replay it later.

You'll want to add the following to the filters area:

holdem_hand_player_statistics.cnt_p_raise > 0 and not(holdem_hand_player_statistics.flg_p_3bet_def_opp or holdem_hand_player_statistics.flg_p_4bet_def_opp) and holdem_hand_summary.cnt_player_f = 2 and not(holdem_hand_player_detail.flg_f_has_position) and holdem_hand_player_statistics.flg_f_cbet and holdem_hand_player_statistics.flg_showdown

Some of that you can do via the Simple Filters section, but that will filter for: you raised preflop, did not face a 3bet or 4bet (thus, were called), 2 players saw the flop, you didn't have position on the flop, you did cbet and you got to showdown.

If you want to add a specific total pot size, add: and holdem_hand_summary.amt_pot < X (or > X, and you can have both > and < if you have two such statements) where X is the amount in dollars you want to filter to.

Thank you, Kraada, that's excellent. This is really cool stuff. So how would I then filter for Villain calling the flop cbet vs raising the flop cbet? I don't see anything that quite gets there in the schema file.

You need a little more logic for that, but since we're heads up, we can get there.

This is true if villian just calls:

lookup_actions_f.action = 'B'

If villain raised, this is true:

lookup_actions_f.action = 'B_%'

So if villian just called, your action string on the flop is exactly and only "bet". If you villain raised, your action string is Bet, plus something else (_), and then may or may not continue beyond that (%), since you have to have a second action heads up when your opponent raises your cbet.

Thank you Kraada. I don't see that information in the schema, is there another file I need to download?

Lookup_actions in mentioned on page 6 of the Database Schema and id_action_X is mentioned on page 11 (although id_action_f and _t are missing - I'll pass this on to get added).
