understanding stats & reports

Postby checkndamail » Sun Aug 16, 2009 6:44 pm

I'm a new user of pokertracker 3 and see all the stats and reports. However, I'm having trouble understanding and evaluating these. I would like to fix the leaks in my tournament game but can't do that if I don't know what I'm looking for. I'm looking for a set of tournament stats that I can compare with mine. Are their any tournament stats available that would show what a winning players stats look like or what a tight/agressive (shark) players stats would look like. In other words, tournament stats that would show a profit over time.

Thanks

There is no "winning set of stats" - there are lots of different styles of play which can be successful, but equally you might see two players with nearly identical basic stats with one winner and one loser.
If you concentrate on playing good poker the results will come.
That said, if you can identify a situation where you think you might be losing money we can help you find the correct filters and/or stats to analyse that.

The following posts discuss the 'standard' PT stats in a cash context:

Tournaments are more complicated because you don't just play each hand in isolation - there is the tournament situation to take into account.

You'll probably find better discussion about strategy and use of stats in the strategy forums on 2 + 2.
