irritating cnt_bb and cnt_sb calculation

Postby el_hombre » Fri Jul 10, 2009 10:56 am

Hi,
iam a bit confused about the default PT3 column for getting the hands in the sb and the bb,
cnt_bb : sum(if[holdem_hand_player_statistics.flg_blind_b AND holdem_hand_player_statistics.flg_blind_s = false, 1, 0])
why not just: sum(if[holdem_hand_player_statistics.flg_blind_b, 1, 0])

and the same for
cnt_sb : sum(if[holdem_hand_player_statistics.flg_blind_b = false AND holdem_hand_player_statistics.flg_blind_s, 1, 0])
why not just : sum(if[holdem_hand_player_statistics.flg_blind_s, 1, 0])

and in the case of cnt_bb
does this make any difference: SUM(if[holdem_hand_player_statistics.position = 0,1,0]) ?

I'm not sure why it was setup to use the = false section you are correct that just:
sum(if[holdem_hand_player_statistics.flg_blind_b, 1, 0])

should work for BB just as well.

However:

SUM(if[holdem_hand_player_statistics.position = 0,1,0])

Is true when you are on the button, not in the BB. The button is 0, the CO is 1, etc. The big blind is always 8 and the small blind is always 9.

I noticed this a while ago and checked with our lead developer - I think it was added initially to avoid any possible errors with posting of penalty-/dead-big-blinds but I'm pretty sure it isn't needed. I built duplicate stats without the =false check and got exactly the same results. I do not think these columns will be changed, though - Josh is confident it doesn't cause any problems.
