Manipulating Text

Postby Flip512 » Sun Jun 21, 2009 3:11 pm

I'm trying to create a custom report so that I can export its results to excel in conformity with an existing xls doc. I recently requested my tournament history from FTP support, and they were kind enough to oblige. Because I play many different types of tournaments (Omaha Hi, O8, Razz....) I want to keep all of my tournament results in one central location. My issues center around the fact that I play a lot of rebuys and knockouts, but PT3 doesn't fully support these tournament types.

I know that all of the information I need can be found in the tournament summaries, and I know that there is a database field that returns the summary text. My problem lies in that I don't really know how to manipulate the text in SQL, and I don't want to have to do it manually in excel. Here is the specific information I want to pull from the summary:
1) Whether the word "rebuy" appears in the first line of the summary.
2) #Rebuys performed. In the summary, this information is in its own line: "Flip512 performed X rebuys"
3) #Addons performed. Same format as above.
4) Whether the words "KO" or "Knockout" appear in the first line of the summary.
5) #Knockouts accomplished. This is in its own line: "Flip512 received 2 Knockout Bounty Awards"
6) $/Knockout. Again, in its own line: "Knockout Bounty: $2"
7) Whether the words "Satellite" or "Frenzy" appear in the first line of the summary.
8) I would also like to pull the tournament name (eg, "$12 + $1 KO Sit & Go" or "MSOP Event #26") from the first line of the summary. This will be used to create a filter for specific tournaments that I play regularly.

I don't expect anyone to try and create these queries for me; if someone could just help by replying with the queries I would have to use to trim the text file appropriately, I can take it from there.

Thanks!
PS - All of this information could kindly be filed under "feature requests" as well. If access to the excel file or tournament summaries would be useful, let me know and I'll ship them.

Right now there are known issues with PT3 not tracking rebuys and knockouts properly from PT3 summaries.

If you have your text summaries it might actually be easier to just use a text processing program like emacs, though it will still take a bit of work, especially given that some of your searches are "is there an X if not print Y"; you might even want to just write a program to go through your files (I'd use Python for it personally, but if you know regular expressions well enough you could probably do it in one massive Perl command).

thank you for acknowledging this issue and possible suggestions. I too struggle with this predicament. Is there and ETA on getting these types of issues resolved? Even if you let us know it could be considerable for whatever reason. ty

Sorry - we really don't know when any specific issues will be addressed.
