Having removed some sections of PostGres during deleting other files I am now struggling to reinstall it. I seem to have removed all of the files from my system but it is still saying that I cannot install because postgres is already on my system. Any help much apreciatyed. Thanks.

You need to remove the postgres user before you can re-install - see this post for full uninstall instructions:
Total uninstall/reinstall of pt3
