Sluggish/slow/no response?

Postby wikked76 » Mon Jun 25, 2012 6:33 am

Hey guys, was wondering if anyone has encountered slow or no response from the stats, results page when loading or refreshing in PT4? Keeps having the "No query specified to query control" message popping up...

Was doing fine until recently, tried doing all the housekeeping stuff and rebuilding cache but still the same thing.
Can anyone advise. Please help!!!

How large is your database? Are you up to date in the Beta line? What OS are you running?

Hey kraada,

I've about 300k hands i think, m using PT4 ver 4.01.21 n running on win xp.
Have uninstalled postgres ver 8 and have installed the newer ver 9 also reinstalled PT4 as well. Did a clean unstall before that.

However when I tried starting PT4 for the 1st time after all the uninstall and reinstalling, it couldn't find the previous postgres database and I had to create a new one, no probs there resolving that.. Problems came when I tried to do a restore on my PT4 database with the backup, the whole comp just hanged for a long long time. Tried cancelling n it just continued to hang... Restarted and tried again and the backup file that I used got corrupted, had to resort using the previous backup file that I have n a backup file of the older processed files.

M trying to resolve this by trial and error in the meantime while waiting for any advice, also waiting for the current files to complete uploading to PT4.

Will keep updating asap.

And any help will be deeply appreciated!!!

Sometimes things can appear to be hanging when they are in fact working. How large is the backup (in hands, roughly, if you know), and how long did you let things work?

Hey kraada,

The backup processed file is 395mb, the last I can remember about the hand count is about 300k?? Not too sure tho.. I left the comp running for about an hour the 1st time I tried doing the restore before trying to cancel (when it appeared to be no responsive).

Cheers

That does seem longer than necessary, but please give it another shot. Don't close PT3 until you can see in Task Manager than neither PokerTracker.exe nor postgres.exe are using CPU time - if postgres is using CPU time it can be writing data to the database and PT3 can appear to be stalled even though everything is working as it should.

Yep, m currently restroring the data right now on PT4 and will see how things go.. Still waiting
Anyways, do you know whats causing the "No query specified to query control" message?

Thanks!

That happens when the area of PokerTracker doesn't get the data needed in order to build the query it wants. Refreshing the report or restarting PokerTracker fixes that kind of problem.

Thanks for the explanation kraada.

Finally got PT4 updated after 4 hours!! BUT, most of the tourney stats are wrong (Buyins, winnings, hands, etc...). Cash stats are perfectly fine, just the tourney stats.

Anyone can help with this issue or anyway to edit, delete stats from PT4?

Anyways, doing another backup now n current file size is about 4422mb. PT4 is still running slow when trying to load or refresh the results, stats, graph pages.. Dunno whats bugging it but hopefully the huds will be OK, gonna try them out as soon as the backup is complete, fingers crossed.

Cheers ;)

You can edit the tournament results manually when on the Tournaments -> Results page by clicking the Edit Tournament Results button on the lower left hand side.
