Database Error

Postby t_roy » Tue Apr 17, 2012 5:13 pm

When I launched poker tracker it was unable to connect to my default database. It normally works just fine but now says that it is unable to connect. This happened once in the past but ended up going back to normal fairly quickly. Is there something I can do about this?

Click Start, type services and click on it when it appears. Find PostgreSQL in the list - is it started? If not, try starting it and seeing if PT3 can then connect.

So if you set this other database as default, can you change active databases to the "missing" one while in PT3?

Is it possible you dropped the database directly from PGAdmin or some such? If so that would leave the old setting stored in the PT3 configuration file but there would be no database in PostgreSQL.

I can make the missing database active but I there are no hands or anything. It says "Unable to connect." All the PT3 settings appear to still be intact though.

So as I typed this, I installed an upgraded PostgreSQL. Now my "missing" database is working fine again. But my secondary database that I was using, I am unable to connect to.

If you didn't backup the other database and restore it in 9.1 that would explain where it is - probably still in an 8.4 data folder. In order to make an upgrade of a major version you need to backup and restore your database. Do you have a backup of that other database?
