Problems getting PokerTracker 3 to work on my macbook

Postby JohnnieYX » Mon Dec 12, 2011 9:35 pm

Hi,

I've try doing some searches around this topic, but I'm still very lost. I downloaded Poker Tracker for my macbook awhile back, had problems getting it tow work, and gave up. I recently tried installing Poker Tracker 3, and when I open it I get the following error:

Error connecting to default database.

Please select one of the valid databases below or create a new one.
Note: It may take time for the Database List to fully populate.

In the upper right hand corner of the window, it says PostgreSQL v0.0.0, and in the PokerTracker Databases, there are two databases, one named "PokerTracker 3 Database" and the other "PT3_2011_02_03_195653" (next to this database it says Default/Active). However, the two databases are in grey text, and I'm unable to select either of them to set as default. When I click "New," I'm told that "This feature is not available in the trial version. Please register."

I suspect that the problem is something with PostgreSQL, but I don't know how to solve it. In my Applications folder, there are two folders, one called "PostgreSQL 9.0" and the other "PostgreSQL 9.1". Am I supposed to uninstall one or the other or both or reinstall it?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Johnnie

Tip: In Finder hit Cmd-Shift-G to bring up a dialog that lets you type in the paths below.

1) Open /Library/PostgreSQL/9.1 and run the uninstall-postgresql
2) Once that completes drag /Library/PostgreSQL/9.1 to the trash.
3) Reboot.

Version 9.1 has incompatibilities with PokerTracker so we are recommending users stick with 9.0 until we can resolve this with the Postgres team.

1) Download the Mac OS X installer for PostgreSQL 9.0.6
2) Install the PostgreSQL package you just downloaded.

Once that completes try running PokerTracker again. If run into any issues along the way please post them here before continuing. Also let us know what version of Mac OS you are running.

Nothing happens when I hit Cmd-Shift-F in Finder... I'm running OSX 10.7.2.

Sorry, it's Cmd-Shift-G. (I was thinking F for folder when it's G for goto.)

Ah, I see. There's a 8.4 folder in /Library/PostgresSQL (along with a 9.0) as well... should I uninstall one or both as well?

So I've uninstalled 9.1 and installed 9.0, and I'm still running into the same error.

In the /Library/PostgresSQL folder there's an 8.4 folder. When I try and uninstall that, I get a message that says "Error: Couldn't raise admin privileges". Any thoughts on how to proceed?

Please create a Support Ticket and reference this thread so we can keep try of the things we've already tried. It's highly likely that doing a remote session will be the easiest way to get things working for you. Upgrades from (Snow) Leopard to Lion can be a bit tricky unfortunately.

I created a Support Ticket a few days ago. Any thoughts on how long it takes before I hear from Support?
