Manual imported hand into the wrong DB :( help

Postby DesrAw » Tue Apr 29, 2008 9:13 am

Hey

I manually 36k observed hands into the played hands database. I didn't know that the observed database had to be active :( Is there a way to purge everything from a specific data?

I hope you can help :)

ty

There's no Advanced Purge option in PT3 yet, what you want to do would be possible with manual SQL queries though, but I'll let someone else tell you how :)

ok :(
I can either let the observed hands stay in the database then, or create a new database and reimport my played hands again :(

You don't *have* to have separate DBs for observed and played hands..
There's no problem with leaving those observed hands where they are for now.

Yes, especially considering future database scheme updates, you'll have to reimport your hands anyway and you can make this right at that point instead.

The StoxPoker video tutorial makes two databases, one for played and one for observed hands. I've been wondiering why. Are you saying that is no longer neccessary?

It isn't, and never was, necessary.
The idea behind 2 DBs is that you keep all of your played hands, and periodically purge old data from the observed hands DB, but if you don't have too many hands there is no point to this. (And I think that you'll be able to purge observed hands only from a DB anyway, so you could do the same thing in 1 DB eventually).

Didn't have anything else to do yesterday, so I created two new databased and got everything in the right place. And now I happy that I did. If it will be posible to purge observed hands from one big database, I dont see any reason to have two, one for observed and one for played. But if this feature doesn't come, then I for sure, want to separate the two.
