Are you guys on track for releasing the commercial version, WITH a fully functional HUD, for the end of this month still?!?!?!

I tried upgrading my PostgreSQL while I was upgrading to PT3 and my PT2 DB got hosed in the process, which really pisses me off! Maybe not be a big deal to you guys, but losing all my hand histories and not to mention all hands data mined is a really big deal to me. Since everything got hosed I figured there was no sense in starting over on PT2 all over again and just went with PT3. The HUD is totally unpredictable, has a mind of it's own, and is driving me up the wall as it "floats" around my screen. I can only use PT3 on two of the three sites I play, and it is still missing plenty of functionality. So my question is when are you going to have a deliverable package that I can count on and not have to live in limbo land like I am now?? Are you guys on target for a working product on PT3 and HUD??

And yes I know it is beta and I shouldn't have made the switch, but I have used other beta products before without the amount of problems here. I will never make this mistake again!

I would also encourage others to be careful on the upgrade with PostreSQL and not be so eager to take advice from just any old post in a forum.

First of all, it is a beta product and you should therefore expect it to not have all the functionality nor that it will be bug free. When it comes to your problem with hand histories you should always have a backup of your hand histories because errors can happen. The problem you encountered is likely not related to PT3 anyway. For what it's worth, I made the change myself months ago and it's been working out very well for me.

When it comes to the release date, I recall seeing Josh saying that it's been pushed back approximately two weeks, but that it will be worth the wait.

First of all, I did back up my hand histories. On the restore back to the new DB it "emptied" my back up file. There was no information or data left in the file and the new DB was nothing but a mess. I haven't seen anything like it before (and I am very tech savvy).

Second, I am tickled pink it is working out very well for you!

Our "almost definitely going to make it" release date is now mid-May.

Yes Josh I did, but not the problems, but how to upgrade from an older version of PostgreSQL to a new one. I did in two different forums (another one outside PT) and the response I got was it is "easy" just back up, unistall completely, reinstall new version, restore DB...easy as 123. I do have some other ideas that I thought of today. When you uninstall PostgreSQL it doesn't completely remove the directories. I am going to try and backup current DB, uninstall new version, reinstall old version, see if I can access or rebuild the DB, back it up again, uninstall, reinstall latest, restore again. Maybe that will work.

Anyway, sorry for my attitude...I am over it and will play nice again :)

If you can get your old setup back and PT2 running again then you could also export your hand histories and reimport. This makes even more sense because PT3 currently doesn't support all the site that PT2 did. If you convert the database, all you'll get are the current 3 sites. If you have any other sites in your DB they will be gone. Export the hands (and tournament summaries) and when PT3 supports those sites you can import them at that time.
